14 Tips for those Giant Soaking Tubs

by Jennifer Rathbun on November 9, 2009

I have this giant soaking tub. Many of the communities here in Caroline are adding these giant tubs. I think I’ve only used mine a few times since I’ve lived in my home. But I have found other uses…

1. Use it as a table to set your clothes that you’re going to wear tomorrow.

2. Keep your PJs on the other end so you can gram them in the evenings.

3. Dry old towels before putting them in the laundry.

4. Dry all your summer wear: bathing suits, beach towels, buckets, swimmies, etc…

5. Store your party supplies for your next event.

6. Use it as “Time Out” for your 2 year old.

7. Bobbing for Apples

8. Giant Jell-O Shooter (this was Matthew’s idea)

9. Make an indoor garden. My biggest window is over my garden tub – which stays closed 24 hours a day. But if I had a garden in my tub, I could use that giant window too!

10. Toddler ball pit

11. Let the kids practice baptizing each other.

12. Let the kids go camping in it one night.

13. Indoor Koi pond

14. Store drinks and ice during your next party. Keep them chilled till you need to bring them outside and refill the bucket.

When building or purchasing your home, consider how much you may actually use an item. Consider resale value. And consider what else you can use it for if you don’t use it as intended!

And like my bathtub, here’s a great article from RISMedia about creating a “Flexible Home.”
