We have our guest writer for our post about the Caroline Agricultural Fair! John Migliorini did an outstanding job describing what he saw… I took my 4 granddaughters and 1 grandniece to the fair Saturday evening along with my daughter-in-law and we had a blast. The location is perfect, "Thank You Mrs. Tate", the layout was great, there was plenty to see and do, a lot of activities, shows, and contest’s but what I appreciated the most were all the benches that were located conveniently around the fairgrounds, a lot with dedication plaques on them it was very well done.
The trolley ride was a stroke of genius and was used by many, along with the lawn mower 1/2 barrel train that the kids had a ball on. The Hay rides were fantastic and fun. After all the running around on a "pleasantly hot" day the "cool-off" tent and "misting" stations were well used and appreciated.
The way the rides were grouped together in the same area made sense, and there were a lot of them and they were varied for different interests. With 5 kids from 6 to 15 years of age, and a daughter-in-law who rode all the rides they wanted to at least once, some twice and ran about $70 which I thought was fair, but, I wish I had seen the advertisements for the wristband ride deals through the Caroline Library and had taken advantage of it, I will look for it next year.
The food was great, with a lot of Caroline’s finest represented. There was so much to see and do we only made it to about half of it in the time we were there, next year I will plan on 2 days at the fair, Maybe a weekend pass would be an option for admission too.
My grandniece was from Baltimore and this was her first taste of "country" living and she loved it, the pedal tractor pulls, the corn maze, the corn pit, the livestock, the rides, the sites, and MOST OF ALL the water melon eating contest! (She won 1st place in her competition age group) the people putting this on did a fantastic job, as did all the people responsible for putting on the fair. You would think that since she is on every Chick-fil-A Kids Meal bag nationally, with her cousin, dressed as cows she would be a little more "country" , but as she told the man with the pedal tractor pull,"this was her first time in the country", he thought she spoke pretty good English for being a foreigner. I laughed at his false conclusion.
It was also great seeing so many friends and acquaintances that I unfortunately do not see enough of during the year, and spending a few minutes catching up on things with them.
I know you can not put together something this well done and this big without a lot of volunteers, and contributors, I thank them all for their hard work, time, and contributions. This was a fair Caroline County could be proud of and showed off some of why I love living here.
Kids playing & having a good time, Adults laughing, smiling and saying Hi to each other, whether you know each other or not, makes this years Caroline County Fair one of those moments in time were it is just plain good to be alive!
Thanks John! Next year, we’ll have to make this a priority! Next time, I’ll add some of the great photos taken by Jan Beveridge of Lake Caroline.

Sounds like you had a great time! I’d be nervous taking htat many children though as I’d be frightened of losing one here or there! I guess that depends on their ages though.
