Monday Musings

On Thursday, The Free Lance Star reported that Fredericksburg Downtown shops were hopeful for seasonal shoppers.

How did your weekend shopping go?

Matthew and I did not do any shopping. We looked online some, but we just did not find anything that we desperately needed or even wanted.

Often we spend so much time trying to find a good buy and then end up spending more money on lots of other little things. So now the $10 of Christmas candles I needed just became $60 at Walmart plus a $3 cup of Carmel Apple Cider. Don’t forget the gas to get to town.

I’m not saying that it’s not ok to be frivolous once in a while. But it’s also important to keep our needs and wants in perspective. Since moving to Caroline County, I’ve been able to reduce my gas and extra spending by shopping locally.

I can’t buy everything I need at The Family Dollar, but I can make my trips to Fredericksburg less and help my pocketbook at the same time!

So how are you saving your dollars?  And what will you eventually use them for?
